The word stress has become and will become increasingly in the coming years, frequently used in everyday language. Due to an increase in discomfort. No coincidence that the stress is considered and described as the most frequent and widespread of modern pathology. The reason seems rather obvious in this regard. Compared to the rural society of our recent historical past, our grandparents, great-grandparents and grandparents the modern lifestyle is far richer and more complex. Today we have a better understanding of many things, we can choose between a rich quantity and quality of food, we use all forms of advanced technology. Our stimuli, both internal and external, have become as a result, more complex and sophisticated than those of the past. This requires that the body knows-man act and react to stimuli, continuously, new ways and strategies to adapt to himself and his surroundings. Stress, in English, means "power", "effort". So you might say, the "tension", the "effort" that the agency person (as a whole body, mind and emotions in constant interaction with the environment, physical and social, to which it belongs) test when subjected to stimuli. Not necessarily the stimuli to which it is subjected may be defined as a stressor (stress agents), and not necessarily stress has a negative value. In fact if they are two different forms:
-
Stress positive (or eustress)
and
-
negative stress (or distress).
The first, positive stress, helps people find solutions to the most appropriate and effective ways of working staff and good adaptation to the environment. This produces a positive change, a move forward, the trend for their own growth. Consider, for example, a student who is studying a topic for the exam. He realizes he is unable to learn in that time and this would gives him an increase of anxiety and tension. After careful consideration of the difficulty, adopt the solution as it considers reasonable: A) is aware of being very tired and decided to move the examination of a few weeks taking the opportunity to relax and rejuvenate, B) finds a new study method to facilitate the quality of their learning. The one or the other solution can be effective if the state will help to reduce fatigue, help him to improve his well-being and achieve the objective in a satisfactory manner. Indeed, if these goals are achieved, the student has found a creative and effective solution to the problem that caused him stress, and will bring benefit to his personal growth.
negative stress (or distress) is, however, the difficulty of finding effective solutions to the safeguarding of their welfare. If the resulting voltage lasts long, or it accumulates to other stressors, it turns into malaise and signs of a more or less severe. They may vary from individual to individual, depending on personal characteristics of biological, psychological, emotional, social, spiritual. Some of the most common symptoms include: anxiety, depression, colitis, headaches, feeling of psychomotor restlessness, a feeling of existential emptiness, difficulty to give value and meaning to their existence. Or it can co-exist a state of distress at different levels (physical, psychological, emotional, social, spiritual).
E 'necessary and proper to remember that you should never hesitate to consult a professional (doctor, psychologist, psychotherapist) when symptoms also are one of continuity and persistence. E 'strongly discouraged "invent" cures do it yourself or take drugs without the prescription of the doctor. The literature on the need to learn the knowledge, but certainly can not be assessed in lieu of care and agreed with the professional.
Where some displays of temper, mild depression and / or anxiety taking sporadic rather than hinder the normal activities of the person, it is useful to be able to improve some basic rules and routines of daily life in order to be able to increase personal well-being and self-efficacy. Some suggestions, for example, are:
-
Do some exercises, gentle and slow, relaxing muscles and stretching every morning, after that we just get out of bed. Better if accompanied by good breathing.
-
Take a shower with warm water, preferably
-
Always breakfast foods with healthy and wholesome
-
Avoid meals and fast food stand by choosing fresh, wholesome and nutritious
-
Avoid or reduce your intake of alcoholic beverages and intoxicating. Drinking water in the amount indicated by nutrition professionals or your doctor.
-
Choose readings fun and non-content-depressive
-
Making regular physical activity.
The basis of these suggestions, there is always the knowledge that the person is a whole (body, mind, emotions, spirituality) and that any action at a level influence and interact with the other level. The body, mind, emotions not only know each other but constantly exchange information and feelings. When, for example, we perform physical exercise, we realize that not only the body feel more relaxed and unloading, even the thoughts calm down, slow down the flow continuously improving our mental and physical performance.
Of particular significance and importance is the spiritual dimension of human nature in the ability to manage or prevent stress.
There is in fact to add that stress may be a consequence dell''abitudine, far from rare, you want to continuously acquire (and obsessive) new external objects to enhance the prestige and importance. The search continues for certain targets (always buy new cars, new phones, new clothes ...) when you reach a good or sufficient creation, economic and social, could be so dysfunctional, unhealthy, which are met spiritual needs of his own nature as human beings (the need for love, respect, to name a few). The 'delay and to persevere in this continuous acquisition of "things" more beautiful and expensive, far from guaranteeing satisfaction and happiness ends up making your life full of anxiety, iquietitudine, dissatisfaction and depression.
